JOB TITLE          CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

REPORTS TO      CEO WITH DOTTED LINES GROUP CFO
 

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer position is accountable for the finance and administration functions of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

PLANNING
–    Assist in formulating the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives;
–    Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans;
–    Develop financial and tax strategies;
–    Manage the company’s cash flows and budgeting processes
–    Develop performance measures that support the company’s strategic direction.

OPERATIONS
–    Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
–    Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
–    Manage the accounting, tax, and treasury and administration functions
–    Oversee the financial operations of the company
–    Manage any third parties to which accounting, or finance functions have been outsourced (for instance, but not limited to auditors, industry regulator, tax authorities and all consulting jobs)
–    Oversee the company’s transaction processing systems
–    Implement operational best practices
–    Oversee employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing cost-effective benefits package

FINANCIAL INFORMATION
–    Oversee the issuance of financial information
–    Report financial results to management, board of directors and to the regulators at least on monthly basis or as and when requested.
–    Prepare the company’s annual budget and quarterly financial results forecasts
–    Lead external audit process

RISK MANAGEMENT
–    Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile as it relates to the finance function
–    Monitor all open legal issues involving the company in liaison with the legal department to ensure company is not exposed to the risks of significant outflow of financial resources.
–    Construct and monitor reliable controls over the company’s financial resources
–    Maintain appropriate insurance coverage for all items that need to be insured
–    Ensure that the company complies with all regulatory requirements that are related to the company’s financial position and reporting
–    Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of regulators and also external auditors
–    Report financial related risk issues to the audit committee and the board of directors
–    Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and implement their recommendations

FUNDING  
–    Monitor cash balances on daily basis and prepare cash flow forecasts on at least bi-weekly basis
–    Arrange for Debt Financing and Equity Financing facilities where needed
–    Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations
–    Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risk before Funds are invested.

LEGAL  
–    Operate in compliance with the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) requirements and ensure that the Group Policies are domesticated and implemented in Botswana.
THIRD PARTIES
–    Represent the Company with investment bankers and investors
–     Participate in communications (e.g. conference calls) with the Investment Community
–    Maintain Banking Relationships
–    Represent the company with NBFIRA and other relevant regulatory bodies
–    Represent the company with the Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS)

REPORTS 
–    Preparation of Monthly management reports and presentation of the results to ECBW and the Group management
–    Preparation and submission of the NBFIRA prudential and other regular and ad-hoc required reports
–    Preparation of the annual financial statements
–    Ensure the end of year Financial Audit Report is concluded within 3          Months after the reporting period end
–    Reporting to the Board and relevant committees

JOB REQUIREMENTS
–    A minimum of 5 years executive management experience, preferably in a financial institution.
–    Accounting and financial competence
–    High integrity and ethical standards
–    Excellent Leadership skills
–    Financial Foresight

EDUCATION 
–    Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy/Finance
–    ACCA/CIMA qualification and
–    BICA membership
