Job Description

Introduction
Responsible for business development and customer service for Business Banking customers. They search for businesspeople and corporations that need bank products & services (assets & liabilities) for their business operations to meet their short-term and long-term needs. Business banker maintains and develops relationship with new & existing businesses. Actively manage and refer that larger customers and loan relationships to Wholesale Banking, as warranted, to maintain the target customer size. Work with Relationship Managers and, as necessary, obtain the approval of the Branch Manager, with a goal of providing a smooth transition of accounts.

Job description
1. Business Growth
• Manage own daily sales activity grid in accordance with allocated sales targets, maximising each prospect for primary and secondary sales.
• Assessment and vetting of deposit accounts and individual loan applications (term, mortgage, commercial, vehicle and asset MIC and overdraft), for quality assurance.
• Effective selling and demonstration of knowledge of all bank products and services including electronic channels and Bancassurance
• Responsible for explaining the features and benefits of products and services to customers
• Ensure that customers receive quality service and correct information so as to enable them to make informed decisions
• Ensure regular feedback to new and existing clients on account and loan applications
• Manage lending and deposit relationships with small business customers
• Originate new business opportunities through outside business development sales calls to centers of influence and prospective customers.
• Develop and manage mid-sized to large customer relationships to include all type of business banking and deposit products and services and maximize long-term customer satisfaction through aggressive cross-selling efforts to satisfy customers’ financial needs
• Demonstrate sound judgment in decision making, abiding appropriately to established guidelines and procedures.
2. Customer Focus
• Relationship and Stakeholder Management
• Ensuring that internal clients are handled in a professional manner and provided with accurate information.
• Ensuring that complaints pertaining to routine and audit reports are dealt with in a professional manner.
• Provides after sales care
• Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of each market’s business relationships with assigned branch personnel.
• Analyze financial statements and customer profiles to support the needs of existing and new potential customers.
• Appropriately handle Business Banking customer service issues in assigned portfolio.
• Perform and document complete interview with customers while obtaining and providing all required documentation as applicable to loan process.
• Maintain and effectively manage individual business portfolios in all respects (i.e., financial and documentation exceptions, reviews, and collection activities in support of centralized collection and/or assigned collection activities).
3. Credit Administration
• Evaluation of credit applications, with reference to risk factors:
• Financial analysis
• Financial facilities structuring
• Industry sector classification
• Credit evaluation and affordability assessment
• Collateral suitability and assessment of inherent value
• Collates all applicable documentation for credit applications.
• Responsible for ensuring that source documents are completed correctly with the required authorisation and signatures.
• Responsible for ensuring that all advances contracts and facility letters are complete and legally correct prior to obtaining client signature.

Minimum requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in business or any other related field
• COP Long & Short
• Certificate in Credit/ Banking will be an added advantage
• 8 years’ banking experience of which 3 years should be at management level
• Knowledge of the banking products and services
