Purpose of the Role

To implement and coordinate training programs in area of responsibility

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Analyses the section’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensures sufficient finacial resources to meet business needs
  • Manages and controls allocated funds and operates within approved parameters
  • Develops and coordinates technical training programs and initiates improvements to practical training interventions to maintain and improve standards of practical competence in functional area
  • Monitors, tracks and evaluates progress made on training programs and makes recommendation for improvement where necessary
  • Coordinates the training, tracking and development of graduate trainees and existing staff
  • Develops and reviews operational procedures for the training unit taking cognisance of changing technological advances, operational requirements, shift in skills and job competencies
  • Identifies technical training and development needs from the Performance Management System and develops and/or sources training programs that would assist employees in their development efforts
  • Coordinates technical development programs for employees identified for succession/localisationpurposes and trainees in functional areas by facilitating the drawing up of development programs and Attending performance review meetings to ensure compliance
  • Researches, reviews, selects and makes recommendations on methods of assessments which assist in identifying employee ability/potential for development and recruitment purpose
  • Maintains up-to-date data on technical training and development needs and trainee assessment results
  • Coordinates legal compliance by ensuring that all training and external training suppliers meet set standards with regard to policy and Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA) requirements as well as recovery of BQA levy
  • Identifies and coordinates the implementation of and adherence to legal and corporate governance principles/requirements in area of responsibility
  • Compiles & presents periodic reports on functional & governance processes, risk management and control status to Site Audit Committee
  • Initiates, monitors and controls short term sectional projects to ensure attainment of desired results
  • Manages subordinates’ key effectiveness areas by setting, monitoring and reviewing performance and taking remedial action as necessary
  • Implements the departmental talent management initiatives by ensuring the right competence and effectiveness of manpower (capacity building) through developing and implementing career, localisation/succession, training, and development plans
  • Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance
  • Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance
  • Estabilishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Implements safety, health and environmental requirements in area of responsibility

Education

  • Diploma. in Mining Engineering or Equivalent

Experience

  • 5 years post qualifications with 2 years at Training Officer level.

Legal Certification/Professional Registration

  • Registration with BQA
  • Trainer of Trainers
  • Assessor
  • Moderator
  • Blasting License will be an added advantage
