Key Responsibilities

Designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data using specialized equipment like electron microscopes, supervising junior researchers and students, writing grant proposals, and preparing publications for peer-reviewed journals. You will also collaborate with industry partners to translate research into practical applications. Administrative duties such as lab management and safety compliance are also expected.

Requirements

Most employers require a PhD in Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Chemistry, or a related field, with several years of postdoctoral or industry research experience. A Master’s degree with extensive research publications may occasionally be considered for exceptional candidates. International exposure through conferences or collaborations is often viewed favorably.
