VACANCIES

Limpopo-Lipadi, a shareholder owned Wildlife & Wilderness Reserve, approximately 20,500 hectares remotely located along the banks of the Limpopo River in the Tuli Block, Southeast, Botswana, invites suitably qualified, experienced and customer-oriented candidates for the below position:

  1. RESERVE MANAGER

Reporting to the General Manager, responsible for implementing the Reserve Management Plan (RMP) with a view to maintaining and improving the natural biodiversity resulting in a high level of sustainability for both the flora and fauna of the reserve.

Duties include:

Working closely with the General Manager to ensure that:

  • the vegetation of the reserve is not only maintained but through regeneration, is improved over time;
  • management of the diverse wildlife of the reserve is achieved with the appropriate balance of species diversity;
  • there is a good relationship, transparent reporting, and frequent liaising with DWNP, BDF, Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Veterinary Services;
  • there is supervision of regular game counts (aerial and other) and ensuring the correct wildlife stocking numbers are maintained according to the RMP;
  • there is constant management of waterholes, fences, roads and all reserve infrastructure;
  • there is a high level of anti- poaching security to protect the wildlife of the reserve;
  • regular research programs are undertaken in conjunction with appropriate educational institutions and supervision of the Research Volunteer Effort;
  • the implementation of regular bush clearing programs required to limit encroachment are undertaken;
  • facilities and activities are designed and developed to enhance shareholder and visitor experiences within the reserve;
  • reserve staff are supervised and that all reserve equipment is maintained to the required standards;
  • the educational potential of Limpopo Lipadi is developed through training experiences for shareholders, commercial guests and volunteers.
  • any other duties determined by senior management and within the skill range are performed to the required standards.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • A post-graduate qualification in nature conservation, ecology, or reserve management.
  • Full driving licence
  • Computer literate and competent with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. A good knowledge of GIS is also a requirement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Be able to read, write and speak Setswana and English.
