Job Description

Morupule Coal Mine (MCM) is a mining company established in 1973 to mine and unlock true value of coal for all stakeholders. The MCM business is at the heart of a prosperous future for Botswana with coal production contributing significantly to the economic development of Botswana. The Mine is owned by the Minerals Development Company Botswana (MDCB) amining investment entity of the Government of Botswana.
Morupule Coal Mine is located 7 km northwest of the urbanized village of Palapye (the fastest growing center outside the capital city of Gaborone), along the Serowe-Palapye national highway (A14).

  • RECORDS MANAGEMENT OFFICER

Job Summary:

 To provide an effective and efficient records and archives service. Responsible for the effective and appropriate management of information produced in and received by Morupule Coal Mine.

Key Activities:

  • Manages the Company registry and provides records management services.
  • To provide information for budget preparation in respect of records management.
  • To participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures.
  • Develops and implements access and retrieval processes to ensure the security and confidentiality of Company records.
  • Develops and implements basic systems to monitor agreements/leases expiry periods and alert the necessary users in good time.
  • Takes proactive initiatives to optimize the use of the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) through engagement of existing and potential users, proving user training, as well as maintaining and disseminating activity records.
  • Develop and build an effective partnership with customers in line with the company values.
  • Ensures adherence to agreed development programmes for continuous improvement.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Degree in Archives & Records Management, Information Systems or equivalent.
  • 3 years post qualification in Records Management.
  • Understanding of SHE Management System ISO 45001: 2018 and ISO 14001: 2015.
