SOS Children’s Villages; www.sos-childrensvillages.org is an international non- governmental social development organisation that has been active in the field of children’s rights and committed to children’s needs and concerns since 1949. In 133 countries and territories our activities focus on children without parental care and children of families in difficult circumstances. In Botswana SOS Children’s Villages operate on three (3) locations, Tlokweng, Francistown and Serowe.

We work on family based, long term care of children who can no longer grow up with their biological families. We also support disadvantaged families to prevent crisis that can in the worst case scenario lead to children being placed in out of home care. Our family strengthening programmes build families’ and communities’ resources, on their ability to organise themselves and on their responsibility for the well-being of the children.

National Project Coordinator

Under the direct leadership and supervision of the Head of Programme Development (NPD), the National Project Coordinator for the Reintegration Project will be responsible to lead the planning (including budgeting), implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project activities, in accordance with the organisation’s policies, strategies, and available resources. In addition, will be accountable for supporting the organization engage in a high standard in monitoring, evaluation, reporting, learning and data quality assurance processes and building a culture of continuous quality improvement across programmes.

Main Duties

  • ï‚·  Receive additional guidance and support from Head of Programme Development, Head of Finance and the Head of Fund Development and Communications.
  • ï‚·  Work in close cooperation with other key support co-workers, including relevant financial and administrative, as well as programme development staff (alternative care managers, Child safeguarding, Advocacy, Sponsorship).
  • ï‚·  Lead the planning and implementation of the Reintegration Project
  • ï‚·  Coordinate the implementation of project activities, according to the objectives, actions and periods outlined in the project plan. In doing so, also ensure that the project operates in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures and fulfils donor requirements.
  • ï‚·  Provide technical support for location level project management and monitoring including data capturing, entry, verification within organizational systems.
  • ï‚·  Prepares organizational reports and statistics to key stakeholders and partners on a monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • ï‚·  Checks the alignment of Quality Standards with National Policies and Standards and proposes mitigation measures where significant gaps exist.
  • ï‚·  In collaboration with the other representatives, undertakes periodic project monitoring activities and reports the same to NPD, respective ACCs and if need be to the ND.Preferred Skills and Competencies for the above position
  •   BA Degree or above in Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Population Studies, Public health, Social Work and Development studies, or related streams
  •   Added advantage for Health and Social Sciences with Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation
  •   Added advantage with short courses on leadership, monitoring and evaluation, project management, results-based management, Child safeguarding/ child protection, Gatekeeping, Supervision or business-related courses
  •   Understanding of the project cycle management
  •   Excellent command of English both written (Report writing, correspondence) and spoken
  •   Ability to facilitate and provide capacity building
  •   Budget preparation and management
  •   Critical thinking and analytical capability
  •   Negotiation and conflict resolution
  •   Collaboration: driven to work with others, able to build partnerships and networks internally and externally.
  •   Clean Driver’s License (Manual) with over 5 years driving experience Relevant Experience:
  •   At least 5 years of relevant experience out of which 3 years in a senior position.
  •   Experience in working with the target group, i.e. children, young people, families and community.
  •   3+ years experience in project management and implementation, reintegration, alternative care, child and young people counselling.
  •   3+ years of professional experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, data quality management, organizational reporting.We offer a competitive NGO salary with medical aid and pension fund.
