This position is based at the Mine Site located between Maun and Sehithwa in Ngamiland, therefore, you must still enjoy getting out on site and have the enthusiasm and interest to work in a remote location and in a multicultural work environment. BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the incumbent will be based in our Gaborone office, but with regular and extended travel to the study office(s) and our mine operations and will ensure all allocated projects within the Program are studied, designed and delivered safely, efficiently, on time, to budget and meet the functional requirements.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Managing multiple, complex projects within the capital program, from studies (concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility) through to execution projects, by implementing best practice systems, processes and procurement methodologies.
•Applying project management, change management, and interpersonal skills to projects that hold strategic significance for Khoemacau Copper, its’ shareholders and key stakeholders.
•Co-ordinating and/or managing multidisciplinary teams within a mining environment from exploration, mining, geotechnical, processing, hydrology/ geohydrology, infrastructure (including but not limited to water, power, accommodation, roads, workshops, and offices) and environmental/community including the key engineering and project discipline areas of civil/structural, electrical, control and instrumentation, mechanical, process/ metallurgy, procurement, and cost/schedule management.
•Championing strategic procurement and carbon reduction as key drivers within the projects.
•Fostering a proactive safety culture.
•Meticulously overseeing cost, budget, schedule, and quality in alignment with business objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND j EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE I PERFORMANCE:
i • A tertiary degree in Engineering.
* Extensive expertise in studying, designing and delivery of projects within the construction and/or mining industry.
i • Proven track record working in both an Owners and Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) organisation.
•Demonstrated experience in delivery of engineering and project studies from concept to feasibility stages.
•Extensive knowledge and proven expertise in designing and constructing large multidisciplinary projects.
: • Substantial experience in (end-to-end) project management, handling multiple concurrent projects or programs, effectively managing technical, environmental, social, and reputational impacts, and successfully negotiating and resolving commercial, contractual, and industrial relations issues.
•Demonstrated experience in the preparation and management of various contract delivery models including the management of multiple stakeholders in the complex contractual arrangements across both design and construction functions.
•Proven consultation and negotiation skills, proven ability to build relationships and influence and communicate effectively about complex or sensitive subjects of strategic importance at all levels.
? • Demonstrated experience In maintaining and revising study and implementation schedules to meet key milestones and schedule targets, and addressing schedule risks, against the budget and project execution plan.
•Proven experience in Risk Management – keeping a project risk register, mitigating risks, and assigning actions.
