MAINTENANCE FITTER
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
Your role will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair work of the wellfields, portable water and wastewater treatment facilities and water distribution systems.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:

•Monitoring the performance of all equipment gauges and charts in the treatment plant and pump stations, recording statistical data concerning plant operations: maintaining, operating, repairing and replacing equipment as necessary and writes reports as required.
•Carrying out maintenance and installations on MMG-Khoemacau wellfields and pipelines.
•Operating, maintaining and repairing malfunctions at the water treatment plant pumps, filters and other mechanical equipment.
•Performing quality control tests on water, evaluating procedures and results for accuracy and determining appropriate methods.
•Ensuring that the plant operates within required standards.
•Responding to complaints regarding the water treatment plant or system, evaluating the situation and explaining the findings to the supervisor.
•Contacting relevant stakeholders where services will be discontinued and explaining when services will be shut off and how soon they will be returned.
•Ensuring the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
•Performing routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and referring defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
•Performing all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE

•National Craft Certificate – Maintenance fitting from recognized institutions
•Minimum of four (4) years’ experience related to installation, plant and equipment maintenance and repair.
•Working knowledge of equipment facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in water treatment plant maintenance and operation activities
•Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, ability to understand and carry out written and oral
instructions
•Communication and good interpersonal skills
