Ausdrill Mining Surface Botswana Proprietary Limited has been in operation in Africa since 1993. Initially started in Ghana, AMS has expanded its operations over the years into other countries in West Africa and now, Southern Africa. In line with an opportunity that has presented itself in our Botswana operations, we are seeking applications from qualified and experienced candidates to join our team.

These positions will be based at the Motheo Copper Project, located in Gantsi in Botswana. We are actively seeking to recruit several experienced mining personnel in the following positions:

  • MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Job Summary
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the incumbent will ensure that all equipment and vehicles in their section are maintained and repaired to conform to local and company health, safety and environmental standards and requirements and they perform to the required production demands. Ensuring that all equipment is commissioned after repair and subsequently maintained to the manufacturer’s recommendations. The maintenance & repair responsibilities must be performed meticulously to ensure AMS performs to world class industry standards and follow industry best practices especially in regard to health, safety and environmental standards, contamination control, preventative maintenance, and condition monitoring.

Key Responsibilities
• Daily observation and supervision of all haulage activities, facilities, equipment, and maintenance personnel on site.
• Monitor haulage equipment application and operation and report any concerns.
• Ensure all haulage equipment and facilities are kept clean and tidy and contamination control measures are in place to project a professional image.
• Coordinate all maintenance functions during the shift and ensure equipment maintenance is carried to OEM recommendations and handed back to operation in minimal possible time.
• Compiles Maintenance reports and feedback at the end of shift
• Ensure that the procurement and supply team are given a forward projection of parts and materials requirements to ensure all parts arrive in time to carry out planned work.
• Coordinate maintenance activities in accordance with his legal appointment as the Mechanic In charge (14.2 appointment).
• Applies Health Safety Environment (HSE) standards in all maintenance activities in order to minimize risks and environmental impact.
• Responsible for his Subordinates’ effectiveness during shift and responsible for all performance management requirements for his subordinates.
• Responsible for on-the-job training and coaching of his subordinates’.

Job Requirements
• 4 years Apprenticeship with an NCC qualification.
• 6 years trade related work experience preferably in a mining environment
• 2 years at a supervisory level
• Good organizational skills to facilitate maintenance activities within allocated maintenance time frames and ensuring availability of Client supplied resources.
• Contract Management experience will be an added advantage
• Exposure to OEM interactions and their management will be an added advantage.
