The U.S. Mission in Gaborone, Botswana is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Clerk (Travel).

The work schedule for this position is:  Full Time – 40 hours per week.  The position may be subject to overtime work, which will be accordingly compensated.

Start date:  Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or his/her candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position:  No

Duties:  The incumbent serves as the Administrative and Travel Assistant and is under the supervision of the General Service Officer (GSO). The incumbent assists the Travel Assistant in managing post’s travel program.  Responsibilities include robust customer service contacts with internal and external contacts. The position requires excellent organizational and communication skills.  Provides backup administrative coverage to other management sections as required.

Qualifications and Evaluations

 EDUCATION:  Completion of two years of college or a two-year diploma in administrative skills or a related field is required.

Requirements:

 EXPERIENCE:  Three years of progressively responsible experience in office management is required.  Any amount of work in a customer service environment is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of administrative procedures and requirements is required.  General knowledge of travel needs is required. Knowledge of Botswana, U.S., and world geography

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:

English level 4 (fluency speaking, writing, and reading) is required.

Setswana Level 4 (fluency speaking, writing, and reading) is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to meet with a variety of clients, internal and external, to negotiate terms and establish service provider expectations is required. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word is required. The job holder should have intermediate computer skills in above mentioned Microsoft applications.  Ability to learn new computer skills, including Office 365 platform, virtual meeting platforms, and MS SharePoint is required.  Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally to internal and external clients at a variety of levels is required. Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision and guidance, exercising initiative within established procedures is required. Excellent organizational skills are required. (This may be tested)

Qualifications:  Local prescriptive privileges must be acquired.  All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
