The Accountant position is a key finance role responsible for budgeting, revenue and expenditure reporting, and ensuring that Paleka Community Trust funds are properly managed. This job is ideal for candidates with accounting qualifications, BICA registration and experience in budgeting or NGO finance.
Main Duties – Accountant
- Examine past, current and proposed budget figures considering economic and financial developments affecting the Trust.
- Manage invoices and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Examine budget estimates for completeness, accuracy and conformance with Trust procedures and regulations.
- Formulate procedures for annual and supplementary estimates of expenditure and revenue.
- Monitor the budget periodically and review reports to confirm funds are used as specified.
- Prepare monthly revenue and expenditure reports for management action.
- Negotiate interest rates with financial institutions to maximise returns.
- Handle tax obligations of the Trust and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements – Accountant
- Botswana citizen from Paleka communities (Pandamatenga, Lesoma, Kazungula).
- Minimum Diploma in Accounting or related field, registered with BICA (proof required).
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant accounting experience.
- Valid driver’s licence.
