below post tenable at Makoro Brick & Tile and Makoro Tank Technologies Plants in Palapye
TIG WELDER x 2
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Applying TIG welding techniques to produce extremely strong joints on structures.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts using hand tools, torches, or arc welding equipment.
• Measures and aligns workpieces using straightedges, clamps, and calipers etc.
• Conduct radiographic and bend tests to verify the quality of the weld.
• Study blueprints to determine locations, relationships or dimensions of parts.
• Install or repair equipment such as lead pipes, valves, floors and tank linings.
• Weld and fabricate metal components.
• Inspects groovers, angles or gap allowances using a micrometer, caliper and precision
measuring instruments.
• Observe tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, X-ray and dimension tolerance to
evaluate weld quality and conformance to specification.
• Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates or structure parts, using hammers, jacks
or torches.
• Remove rough spots from workpieces using a portable grinder, hand file or scraper.
• Assist with housekeeping in area of responsibility.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Diploma in Welding & Fabrication or equivalent.
• 10 years’ experience with TIG welding preferably in a manufacturing/mining industry.
• Must be fully conversant with Latte & Milling Machines
• Must be able to work during weekends and Public holidays
