The Ministry of Environment and Tourism’s overall goal is to develop and implement policies, strategies and programmes to provide leadership and professional guidance on all matters pertaining to the conservation and management of the country’s environment and its natural resources for sustainable development and tourism.

A talented, experienced, proactive, innovative, and self- driven citizen of Botswana is sought to fill the below- mentioned position in the Ministry of Environment, and Tourism – Kasane – Kazungula Redevelopment Agency.

PRINCIPAL QUANTITY SURVEYOR I – D2 Salary Scale: D2 (P305,664 – P337,068) per annum LEAVE: 30 working days per annum.

  • A contract of 24 to 36 months with gratuity at the rate of 30% payable upon expiry of the contract.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying, an MSc in Construction Law & Arbitration and a Professional Membership will be an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 10 years work experience in Quantity Surveying of which Two (2) years should have been at Principal Quantity Surveyor II – D3 salary scale or equivalent. Experience should be in design and supervision of building & civil construction projects. The candidate should have experience in preparing & reviewing preliminary and detailed design estimates, preparing tender documents for procurement of service providers.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Quantity

Surveyor will provide quality assurance, policy advice and maintain cost planning and cost control over all KKRA projects. The Officer will also be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, in accordance with specifications, within budget, to customer’s brief, statutory and environmental standards.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Contract Administration and Management
  • Provision of advice on contractual matters (FIDIC contracts).
  • Measurement and compilation of Bills of Quantities.
  • Provision of cost estimates to clients.
  • Coordination of contracted quantity surveying consulting firms.
  • Verification of valuations and confirmation of materials on site as submitted by consultants.
  • Verification and checking of monthly payment certificates as submitted for the various projects.
  • Verification and checking of quotations for various products and services as received from time to time for further processing by the office.
