Lucara Botswana is seeking an Onsetter/Banksman (Cage Tender) to manage safe shaft operations, signaling, and cage loading at their diamond mining facilities in Gaborone.

The company operates the r Reporting to the Person in Charge, the Onsetter/Banksman (Cage Tender) ensures safe and compliant shaft operations by managing cage loading/offloading, performing signaling duties, and coordinating with the winder driver.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform shaft signaling as per Botswana MQWM regulations
- Manage loading/unloading of materials and personnel
- Inspect shaft stations and safety devices
- Communicate with winder driver
- Adherence to shaft procedures
- Safety, health and environmental compliance
Requirements
- Minimum JC or BGCSE certificate (or equivalent)
- Banksman/Onsetter certification
- At least 2 years shaft operations experience
- Proficiency in shaft signalling systems
- Knowledge of cage loading procedures
- Understanding of safety lockout processes
- Familiarity with emergency shaft protocols
- Physically fit for underground conditions
- Valid Class B Driver’s License
