Purpose of the Role
To provide comprehensive occupational health care services
Key Job Responsibilities
- Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets
- Consults, investigates, diagnoses and prescribes treatment and or refers to relevant professionals when necessary
- Analyses and identifies disease trends and takes appropriate action and notifies relevant authorities
- Schedules and monitors attendance for medical exams
- Conducts pre-employment, period ie and exit employment medical exams and sends reports to relevant authorities as per set standards
- Identifies and refers cases to the occupational health doctor as appropriate
- Conducts workplace health risk assessments asing with the occupationa! hygienist and the rehabilitation team
- Educates clients on occupational health risks and their mitigation
- Advice clients on managing chronic diseases at the workplace
- Manages appropriate supply and utilisation of resources to meet the needs of the clients.
- Manages stock levels within the unit and monitors stock usage
- Coordinates and monitors the implementation of safety, health and environmental programs in area of responsililty taking cognisance of all legal requirements
- Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance
- Manages the effectiveness areas of subordinates and reviews targets
- Establishes and maintains Business Partner relationships with all key stakeholders to facilitate the optimal functioning of the nursing section
Other Job Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety, health and environmental and corporate governance principles, policies and procedures in area of responsibility
Education
- Diploma in General Nursing and Diploma in Occupational Health
Experience
2 years post aualificat on experience in occupational health
Legal Certification/Professional Registration
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana
