MEDICAL COORDINATOR

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

To plan, coordinate and manage the Mine clinics, Occupational Health, curative care, as well as accidents and emergency response for Khoemacau Copper Mining employees and contractors

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing annual budget for the section and making recommendations to management regarding facilities and priorities.
  • Identifying stock levels and replacing stock of medications, medical equipment as per procurement process and practice for medical site.
  • Developing, coordinating and monitoring the implementation of medical surveillance schedule in line with legislative requirements to ensure fitness of employees.
  • Liaising with external bodies such as Regional Health Management Teams to keep abreast with trends and developments in health such as HIV and AIDS Management. Occupational Health etc.
  • Facilitating, managing and maintaining primary health care programme operations and guidelines/procedures and standards for the Mine
  • Analysing clinical statistics to assess disease trends for purpose of revising and updating Primary Health Progrmmes and managing identified anomalies.
  • Managing the safe keeping of Medical Records within the clinic.
  • Coordinating the implementation of Mine wellness programmes and procedures.
  • Ensuring adherence to SHEC policies, procedure and standards in area of responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

  • Degree in Nursing Science or Occupational Health Nursing
  • Must be registered with Botswana Nursing and holding a current practicing license
  • 8 years’ experience post qualification experience, two of which will be have been served in a supervisory level
  • 2 years in a mining/industrial environment
