Main purpose of the position

To provide innovative HR business partner solutions to allocated business/function teams and support the optimal use of the Botswana Power Corporation Human Resources to meet Business objectives and also coordinate and manage innovative HR support services and programmes as well as ensure adherence to legislation and established corporate governance principles and practices to enhance employee engagement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Implements strategic plans, business plans, budgets and operating plans in accordance with the Corporate Strategy and supervises the implementation of such plans.
  • Partners with leaders, managers and frontline supervisors to identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities.
  • Focus on increasing the talent quotient and driving improvements as per the BPC Talent Management Model.
  • Initiates workforce analysis and organization design activities with business leadership to ensure structure and staffing levels are proactively managed to meet short and long term business goals and desired retention is achieved.
  • Proactively coach leadership teams/Mancos within their area of responsibility both as a team and as individuals to drive business performance through high engagement.
  • Providing generalist HR support in various administration and engagement activities
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of key HR activities/programmes to support the business/function in attracting, motivating, retaining and developing the highest calibre of people.
  • Ensures core HR processes (e.g. performance, talent reviews, compensation, talent acquisition, etc.) are clearly communicated and understood by managers and supervisors within the business/function.
  • Executes strategic HR initiatives e.g. Resourcing, Personal Development Plans, Career Development Plans, Technical/Management Skills Training Needs, Succession Planning, Performance Management Processes, Graduate Recruitment, Mid – Career Recruitment, Transfers and Promotions.
  • Ensure timely induction of all new employees
  • Helps ensure harmonious working relations within the business/function, and that any areas of conflicts, grievance and discipline are promptly resolved within laid down procedures and in accordance with the Service Level Agreements.
  • Implement active change management initiatives that are driven with strategic direction.
  • Implements and monitors change management activities within the business that have employee impact are managed in a timely, professional, and lawful manner and that communications regarding change are clear, concise and consistent.
  • Builds relationships with specialists and the BPC HR Community to create learning opportunities and share best practices.
  • Collaborate with Business HR colleagues on all products e.g. Engagement and Talent Management, to agree stakeholder engagement, drive functional strategies, processes and messages to ensure continuous improvement
  • Provide ideas and support for employee engagement activities to enhance employee experience; and participate in ad hoc HR initiatives and projects.
  • Identifies shortcomings, then suggests and implements improvements to existing business practices, while developing and delivering projects or a work stream within the organization’s change management program with guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Conduct internal surveys and other employee engagement initiatives
  • Develop current Human Resources policies and procedures, strategies and implementation plans’ that address BPC HR needs that take in cognisance potential business risks.
  • Reviews and Develops policies in support of organisational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources , Social Sciences, Industrial and Organisational Psychology, or related field.
  • A Valid Professional membership to a credible institution will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant post qualification experience .
  • Of the above, at least three (3) years must be in HR middle   management position in an active multi discipline environment.
  • Experience and knowledge of Human Resources best practices.
