Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the development and execution of the organisation’s strategy by embedding data-driven decision-making across all business units.
  2. Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy, including data governance, architecture, analytics, and reporting frameworks aligned to business needs.
  3. Oversee the collection, management, and integrity of data across the organisation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of information.
  4. Lead the development and delivery of management dashboards, performance reports, and analytics to support Executive Management and Board decision-making.
  5. Provide advanced analytics and insights on key business areas including customer behaviour, revenue performance, portfolio quality, and operational efficiency.
  6. Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of regulatory and statutory reports in line with Bank of Botswana and other regulatory requirements.
  7. Establish and enforce data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure proper data ownership, quality control, and security.
  8. Collaborate with IT and Digital teams to develop and optimise data infrastructure, systems integration, and reporting platforms.
  9. Drive automation of reporting processes and enhance data accessibility through modern business intelligence tools and platforms.
  10. Support business units with data analysis for product development, customer segmentation, pricing, and performance optimisation.
  11. Monitor and improve data quality across systems, identifying and resolving data gaps, inconsistencies, and inefficiencies.
  12. Provide insights to support key organisational priorities such as customer lifecycle management, revenue growth, cost optimisation, and risk management.
  13. Lead the development of predictive and advanced analytics capabilities to enhance forecasting, decision-making, and strategic planning.
  14. Build and lead a high-performing data team, enhancing analytical capabilities and fostering a culture of data-driven performance management.
  15. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and internal policies, safeguarding sensitive and confidential information.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or related field is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • At least ten (10) years’ experience in data management, analytics, or MIS within a financial institution or similar environment, with at least three (3) years at senior management level.
