Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Data Capture Clerk will be responsible for accurately capturing all the data generated by the exploration team into the database, timeously and precisely to maintain a high-quality geological database.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Capturing into the Geobank database all exploration and resource development generated data, i.e. borehole logs, sampling ledgers, survey information, drilling rig availability and utilisation hours.
- Capturing, renaming and saving core-photos in the server and maintaining their record.
- Receiving and filing all paper logs and maintaining a record of all available paper logs.
- Retrieving and returning of all the filed logs.
- Maintaining the sampling ledger.
- Involved in site quality control and quality assurance of sampling process and receiving, capturing and filing the sampling log from the geologists.
- Liaising with project geologists and geological assistants regarding submitted data and discussing observed anomalies by validating and making corrections to captured information.
- Maintaining and updating the database and ensuring that the data is properly organized and accessible for geologists to use
- Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as inventory and stock replenishment, raising purchase requisitions and performance board updates
- Supporting the monitoring of compliance with SHEC regulations by providing financial data and reports that help identify areas of concern
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- BGCSE certificate
- Certificate in archives and records/computer science/information technology will be an added advantage
- Preferably having worked in an exploration/mining environment for a minimum of 2 years
