Title: Geotechnical Technician – Quality Control (Underground) – 5 Year Fixed Term Contract
Jwaneng, BW
Purpose of the Role
To collect data and Quality Control to ensure compliance to Geotechnical specifications & standards. This enables Geotechnical design assumption verifications and stability assessments.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Provides technical information to assist in the compilation of budgets
- Compliance to Sectional (Geotechnical) OPEX and CAPEX budgets
- Undertakes Geotechnical quality control in support of mining execution by conducting the following:
- Undertakes Geotechnical data collection which include but not limited to:
- Performs geotechnical monitoring instrumentation installations (e.g. smart cables and Multi Point Borehole Extensometers.
- Conducts data download from Geotechnical monitoring instrumentation
- First pass maintenance and/or repairs of Geotechnical monitoring instrumentation
- Provides Geotechnical support to mining execution teams by:
- Conducts basic geotechnical hazard awareness training to the mining execution team
- Ensures adherence of the mining execution team to geotechnical support specifications and support standards.
Other Job Responsibilities
- Adheres to safety, health and environmental policies/ procedures in area of Compliance to SHE standards responsibility
Education
- Diploma in Geology, Geotechnical, Mining or equivalent
- Strata control certificate
Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Hardrock underground mining industry plus experience with guiding and providing geotechnical quality control.
Legal Certification/Professional Registration
- SANIRE/SAIMM/ERB or their equivalent
