Job Description

Lucara Botswana (Pty) Ltd owns the Karowe Diamond Mine in Letlhakane, which operates an Open Pit Mine and is now transitioning into the Underground operation. The envisaged underground operation is currently undergoing construction in which two vertical shafts (Production and Ventilation) are being sunk and will be followed by lateral development and subsequent ore extraction. To this end, Lucara Botswana invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following positions, tenable in Letlhakane, to be part of this exciting underground mine development.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Materials Management Specialist coordinates and oversees all materials management functions, ensuring that materials and services procured meet required quality, specification, and safety standards, and are available in good condition when needed. The role is critical to maintaining uninterrupted production by ensuring the timely availability of the right materials-including spare parts, mining consumables, fuel, and explosives-in the correct quantities and at optimal cost.

  • Minimum five (5) years in materials planning, procurement, or warehouse operations, ideally in a mining or industrial environment.
  • Proven experience in Materials Management, or experience as a Standards Officer and/or Quality Assurance Officer.
  • Must have worked in the Materials Management field as a Standards Officer and/or Quality Assurance Officer
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Demonstrated negotiation and persuasive communication skills
