Job Description
The primary purpose of the diamond driller is to operate and maintain the diamond drill and ensure all employees/contractors are actively involved in achieving a safe and positive work environment. Health & Safety issues coupled with environment are top priority. Duties and Responsibilities
- Operation and management of electric/hydraulic diamond drill, capable of drilling holes of 1000m depth (NQ/BQ).
- Ensure comprehension/understanding of drill plans to ensure rig is set up correctly and accurate reporting of drill shift and production.
- Compliance with all HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) policies and procedures.
- Conduct weekly inspections on diamond drill, contribute to improving safety and production.
- Identify and timely report safety hazards or problems / malfunctions with the drilling equipment.
- Ensure diamond drill core is clean and presentable.
- Assist supervisor with management of drill breakdowns, moves and setup of rig.
- Provide additional support to management as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- BGCSE/equivalent plus relevant Diamond Drill Operator certification/licence.
- At least 3-5 years relevant work experience, Underground experience preferred.
- Strong background/experience in drilling hard rock, high grade metamorphosed Archean Gneiss’ utilizing BQ sized diameter core, holes up to 1200m length.
- Background/experience with operation and troubleshooting electric hydraulic diamond drills, previous knowledge and prior experience of hydraulic systems is preferred.
- Experience in rebuilding Boyles B20 heads, downhole pumps coupled with welding experience would be considered a great asset.
