Purpose of the Role

The Corporate Affairs Manager role tenable at the Debswana Corporate Centre has two positions. The first one is responsible for implementation of the company’s Brand and Employee Communication programmes designed to build employee pride, confidence and engagement. The incumbent will partner closely with stakeholders from across the company to ensure all communication activities are fully aligned with  the company’s strategic direction, vision, mission and purpose. The second one is responsible for implementation of the Media and Brand Communication programmes externally with a view to enhancing the company’s reputation, brand positioning and media presence across digital and traditional media channels, as well as other platforms, locally, regionally and internationally

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the implementation of a company-wide employee brand and values internalisation strategy and programme which promote employee brand ambassadorship and the company’s image across the business
  • Lead communication initiatives that build confidence around the company’s Mission, Purpose, Vision, and Values (MPVV)
  • Contribute to the development of the company’s brand and employee communication framework, policies, procedures, processes and measurement tools
  • Lead the project management and execution of Senior Leadership employee communication initiatives, which include, amongst others, Visible Felt Leadership initiatives
  • Develop company-wide consistency and alignment in production of communication materials and key messages, announcements, briefings, presentations, newsletters and question
  • Answer documents, fact sheets, speeches and talking points around strategic company content.
  • Drive and support employee communication around key company initiatives such as the company’s Purpose (Make Life Brilliant) and Building Forever Programme
  • Develop and lead the implementation of high level and executive company brand and executive events i.e., company anniversary/milestone events and launches of strategic initiatives
  • Ensure compliance to the Company’s Corporate Identity Standards across the Business Units
  • Socialise and ensure compliance to Corporate Affairs Brand and Employee Communication standards, policies and procedures
  • Oversees relevant annual communication effectiveness and brand perception surveys, employee effective reach and employee Brand loyalty/Net Promoter score
  • Develop and coordinate the delivery of the company’s transformational, innovative and impactful external communication, media relations and brand management strategies and annual plans; targeting national, regional and international audiences
  • Implement and direct the external aspects of the company’s digital, social media and traditional media programme aimed at raising awareness about the company’s brand positioning, strategy and key initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of the company’s external communication, media relations and brand communication framework, policies, procedures, processes and measurement tools
  • Coordinate media enquiries, interviews and requests as well as parliamentary questions
  • Create content for press releases, byline articles and keynote presentations
  • Evaluate and enhance opportunities for media partnerships, and advertising on an on-going basis
  • Build relationships with thought leaders and media to grow company and industry awareness
  • Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting clients and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy within the industry requirements
  • Identify and facilitate speaking opportunities for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
  • Monitor, analyse and communicate external communication results on a monthly/quarterly basis

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates the implementation of safety, health and environmental programs in area of responsibility taking cognizance of all legal requirements

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Public Relations/Communications or equivalent

Experience

Five (5) years’ work experience, two (2) of which involved in brand management, employee Communication, media relations, digital and stakeholder relations

Legal Certification/Professional Registration

  • Communication / Reputation Management / PR institutes or associations
