Job Summary

To ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing of debit orders related to loan repayments and other financial obligations. The role safeguards the integrity of customer accounts, supports effective loan recovery, and contributes to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Job Details

  • Debit Order Management
  • Process daily debit orders for loan repayments and other customer obligations.
  • Monitor successful and failed debit transactions, ensuring prompt resolution.
  • Reconcile debit order files with bank reports and internal records.
  • Allocate payments accurately and timeously to customer accounts
  • Customer Account Oversight
  • Verify customer account details before processing transactions.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in debit order collections.
  • Communicate with customers regarding failed or disputed debit orders;
  • Attend to post debit order queries with walk-in clients and via telephone
  • Maintain records of exceptions and resolutions
  • Adhere to payments procedures, internal controls and audit standards
  • Maintain proper documentation and system accuracy

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Business Management, or related field.
  • Relevant training in payments or accounting systems would be an added advantage
  • At least 2 years of experience in payments processing, collections operations, finance or banking operations
  • Experience in payroll-based collections environment
  • Basic understanding of payments and collections processes, including payroll (DAS) collections, debit orders, EFT, and other payment channels
  • Understanding of reconciliation fundamentals, including matching payments to records and identifying discrepancies
  • Understanding of lending lifecycle impact
  • Basic knowledge of financial systems
  • Awareness of regulatory frameworks: NBFIRA, Bank of Botswana, AML/CTF, Data Protection
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong numerical and reconciliation ability
  • Ability to follow structured processes and procedures
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Proficiency in systems and MS Excel
  • Effective communication and teamwork
