VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. 2 OF 2024
EXTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT
The Botswana Defence Force is looking to employ suitably qualified Non-Uniformed Personnel for the following positions:

CHIEF REGISTERED NURSE/ SENIOR NURSING OFFICER (INTENSIVE CARE UNIT X1 RENAL X1, THEATRE NURSE X1 AND PSYCHIATRIC – X1) D4 X4 – TENABLE AT SSKB AND THEBEPHATSHWA AIR BASE

Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in General Nursing from an accredited institution plus post basic qualification in (Intensive Care Unit X1/, Renal X1/, Theatre Nurse X1 and Psychiatric Nurse X1)
Experience At least (2) two years’ experience as Principal Registered Nurse/ Nursing Officer I at C1 salary scale or four (4) years’ experience on area of specialization.
Salary scale: D4 (P243,756 – P268,680).

Leave: 30 working days per annum.

Certification: Must be registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana and licensed to practice.

Benefits:
Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% while Employee pays 50%).
Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15% while Employee pays 5%).
Housing and Upkeep Allowance of P309.00 per month.
d. Nurses overtime allowance of 30% of basic monthly salary plus Post Basic Allowance of 10% of basic monthly salary where applicable.

Job purpose: Provide quality patient care and nursing services in the BDF health facilities to ensure optimal recovery of patients.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
a. Assist on the implementation of Intensive Care Unit/ Renal/ Obstetrics & Gynecology/ Psychiatry policies and procedures to ensure compliance to set standards.
b. Facilitate booked and emergency Intensive Care Unit/ Renal/ Obstetrics & Gynecology/ Psychiatry policies patients to determine appropriate treatment modality.
c. Evaluate patient’s conditions, administering treatment and providing constant support during recovery.
d. Develop specific standards and guidelines on performance expectations for clinical teaching.
e. Prepare and takes clinical ward rounds with a multi-disciplinary team for continuity of patient care.
f. Deliver regular updates to Doctors, Patients and their family members.
g. Respond to a medical emergency and select appropriate drug when necessary
h. Manage the implementation of quality improvement initiatives to ensure operational efficiency.
i. Mediate in conflict situations for both patients and junior team members.
