Job Description

Location: Branch office, Gaborone, Botswana Department: Senior Management

Brief Description of Role

The Employee shall serve the Employer as Chief Executive Officer in Botswana and report to HUB 1 Chief Executive Officer and dotted line to the Group Board Members who will determine duties and responsibilities from time to time:

The Employee general duties shall include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Participate as a member of the Board providing advice and guidance to Board as required to contribute to the effective governance of the organisation;
  • Be in charge and take the ultimate responsibility of the business results and performance in Botswana including but not limited to introducing new products, opening branches, hiring DSA’s to execute the set strategy;
  • Lead, motivate, develop and control all staff to ensure that they have the necessary skills and motivation to deliver to agreed performance standards;
  • Manage day to day operations. Undertake thorough and ongoing analysis of performance criteria, productivity, efficiency;
  • Work closely with the Board to determine new opportunities in the marketplace and devise ways to take advantage;
  • Strategic development of the business, hitting sales and profit targets in line with the budget;
  • Utilise personal profile in order to help grow the brand and marketing opportunities;
  • Ensure the development and ongoing maintenance of a comprehensive set of systems, policies, standards and procedures that ensures the organisation can operate efficiently and effectively whilst remaining compliant with legislation:
  • Monitor and analyse and report to the Board the operating results of the business;
  • Set up and implement business improvement plan if required;
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and represent the company in all the regulatory matters;
  • Ensure the company’s important taxation relationships are up to date and manage relationship with Revenue authorities:
  • Represent the Company in public affairs and manage suppliers:
  • Develop business brand awareness and manage all distribution channels.

Knowledge and expertise

  • Solid understanding of finance industry preferable – lending, sales, risk management and compliance requirements;
  • 5-7 years’ business development, sales or operations experience;
  • Prior CEO experience will be added advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years senior management experience are a pre requirement.
  • Must have work permit to work and live in Botswana:
  • Master’s Degree or greater in Business or Finance is desirable:
  • Advanced knowledge of retail lending operations, industry, products or services;
  • Advanced knowledge of microfinance compliance regulations, law, employment and labor law, regulatory guidelines and requirements..
  • Understanding of overall management of the organisation or a significant business development unit/ department. Experience in managing at least 50 staff members.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders to facilitate complex relationships between the business and customers emplover.
  • Experience working in Group structure with different including dotted reporting lines to the Group management.

Candidates with MBA or equivalent of CA qualification will be an added advantage.
