Job Description
BOILER MAKER-SCRAPYARD
(1 YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT)
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
Your role will be responsible for sorting, cutting, weighing and removal of scrap material from scrap and salvage yards and other areas as directed according to sound engineering practices and equipment specifications in your area of responsibility.
MAJOR DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
•Ensuring disposal of scrap materials as prescribed.
•Consolidating monthly reports, stating the types and quantities disposed oft.
•Recording all Scrap types going in and out of the scrap yard in the prescribed register form
•Controlling access into the scrap yard.
•Directing different scrap types to appropriate areas.
•Maintaining good housekeeping at the scrap yard, including cleaning and identifying types of waste and MSDSs. where necessary.
•Reporting all defective equipment and facilities to the Standards Officer as and when they occur.
•Ensuring contractor and owner team complies to all safety requirements, including appropriate PPE relevant for working with hot metals as per company standards.
•Performing inspections in accordance with the Mines Quarries Works and Machinery Act regulations, manufacturing and Company standards.
•Carrying out inspections according to a specific schedule to ensure that contractor machinery always meets the company standards.
•Communicating with Standards Officer. Warehouse Coordinator and relevant personnel on the needs of the scrap and salvage yards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE
•National Craft Certificate (Boiler making) from recognized institutions.
•Minimum of four (4) years post qualification experience
•Boilermaker development techniques.
•Able to use oxy-acetylene gas torch.
•Quality Control & plant equipment maintenance, troubleshooting/fault finding skills Communication and interpersonal skills.
•Attention to Detail
•Physically Capable – Should have manual dexterity, physical strength and coordination.
