Assistant Technician – Mechanical – Botswana Vaccine Institute

Summary

Reporting to the Team Leader – Mechanical, the position will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, service and repair work on mechanical plant and equipment in line with the required standards.

Description

The incumbent will be responsible for, among others, the following:

• Complying with engineering and SHEQ policies, procedures and all third-party requirements.
• Carrying out routine maintenance work and check as directed and reporting any faults or irregularities to the supervisor.
• Performing metal welding works ensuring safety of personnel.
• Carrying out plumbing works ensuring good operation of all abolution areas.
• Carrying out minor carpentry repair.
• Operating the incinerator to burn waste controlling emissions by keeping the temperature within a specific range.
• Preparing and replenishing plant chemicals as directed by supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

The right candidate will possess the following minimum requirements:

• A Trade Test B in an appropriate Engineering field.
• At least two (2) years post apprenticeship experience in an engineering maintenance environment preferably in the manufacturing sector.
