Job Description

Reporting to the Mine Surveyor, the Survey Technician provides technical and operational support for all underground and surface survey activities. The role ensures accurate data collection, survey execution, and maintenance of survey networks to support mine design, planning, and production requirements. The incumbent contributes to accurate volumetric reporting, assists in QA/QC processes, and ensures survey standards, safety, and equipment maintenance are consistently met.

Requirements

• Diploma in Mine Surveying, Geomatics or related field.
• Minimum of four (4) years’ post-qualification experience in mine surveying, including at least two (2) years in a mechanised underground mining environment.
• Proficiency in the operation of Leica Total Stations, MS60, CMS, and drone surveying technologies.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Deswik CAD, Leica Infinity, and Cyclone 3D software.
• Sound understanding of underground control networks and traversing techniques.
• Basic knowledge of survey QA/QC processes and data validation methods.
• Membership of a recognised professional body (IMSSA, SAGC, ERB, or equivalent).
