About Company
Wepex was started in April 2006 by two brothers Bertoe and Wynand Meyer. Bertoe was developing a residential complex in 2005 which needed lateral support to an excavated face.
At first, Bertoe got quotes from geotechnical contractors to undertake the work but the contractors could not meet the required technical and space requirements so Bertoe decided that it was something he had to do himself. After the successful completion of the lateral support works, he contacted Wynand who was at this time working in Angola and told him about the potential market in the geotechnical industry. Wynand realised the potential, moved down to Durban, South Africa, and started Wepex Geotechnical Contractors. Well, as they say, the rest is history.
Wepex grew rapidly in its early years and slowly started tackling a variety of different geotechnical contracts. To date, Wepex has completed over 120 projects/contracts.
Wepex currently employs over 200 people consisting of civil engineers, mechanical engineers, quantity surveyors and a passionate workforce. Wepex currently operates throughout the Southern Africa region.
