Job Summary
The University of Botswana (UB), a premier state-owned tertiary institution dedicated to shaping the future through excellence, research, innovation and meaningful societal impact, invites applications from accomplished and suitably qualified professionals for the position of Lecturer in Information Systems in the Department of Information and Knowledge Management under the School of Media, Information and Creative Arts.
Key Responsibilities
teach Information Systems courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate must be able to teach in at least 3 of the following areas: Systems Analysis and Design; Strategic Information Systems; Database Systems; Decision Support Systems; Information Security; E-Commerce Project Management; Applied Knowledge Management; Business or Competitive Intelligence; Artificial Intelligence; Cyber Law and Ethics. Knowledge of at least two of the following programming languages is crucial: Python, Java, C++ and Visual Basic .NET, and the ability to program in one of these environments: Linux, UNIX, and/or Windows platforms. In addition, the candidate will be expected to undertake research and perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Chairperson of the Department.
Requirements
(i) a PhD/Doctorate in Information Systems or in a related/relevant discipline;
(ii) A relevant Bachelor’s degree with at least a 2(i) pass or a GPA of at least 3.6 or equivalent;
(iii) Evidence of engagement in research and service;
Added advantages :
(i) A professional qualification,
(ii) Teaching experience at a university or comparable institution
(iii) Demonstration of effective academic leadership.
Other Requirements:
i. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders;
ii. Understanding of teaching and principles and practices;
iii. Understanding of research methodologies, tools and principles;
iv. Registration or eligibility for registration with Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) or a relevant and recognized professional body is required.
