Job Summary
Botswana Post Group invites suitably qualified, innovative, resilient, results-oriented and self-driven professionals to apply for the position of Compliance Officer.
The Compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the Risk and Compliance Manager in the execution of the Compliance Framework and enterprise-wide risk management processes to minimize and prevent losses arising from incidents.
Reports To: Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Specialist
Key Responsibilities
Analysis, Monitoring and Testing
- Conduct monitoring and testing of existing internal controls designed to detect unusual or suspicious activities and ensure adherence to the Company’s AML/CFT policies and procedures.
- Identify major AML/CFT risk trends on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and semi-annual basis and provide conclusions to identify areas requiring focused training.
- Act as the first point of contact with Business Units on AML/CFT-related matters.
- Identify best practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Recommend improvements to address identified compliance gaps and work with business units to implement corrective actions.
Reporting
- Prepare professional reports to keep Senior Management informed of compliance monitoring activities, emerging trends and progress.
- Prepare and submit Unusual Transaction Reports (UTRs), Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and other required reports within prescribed timelines.
- Assist in preparing compliance statistics and reports for Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
Business Support
- Support business units by providing compliance advice, guidance and resolutions.
- Assist business units in evaluating, investigating and resolving compliance issues.
Change Management
- Lead functional change initiatives.
- Manage change processes by translating organizational changes into projects, goals, priorities and redesigned systems and processes.
Risk Assurance
- Maintain knowledge of enterprise risk management principles.
- Evaluate business risks and their impact on operations and organizational performance.
- Analyze trends in risk exposure and recommend process improvements.
Application of Legislation
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of laws and regulations affecting BotswanaPost.
- Engage proactively with industry bodies and regulatory stakeholders.
- Keep the organization updated on legislative developments and ensure compliance.
Customer Satisfaction
- Maintain effective relationships with user departments and branch networks.
- Establish compliance reporting procedures and deadlines.
- Ensure compliance information is processed according to customer service standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Business Management, Accounting, Insurance or a related field.
- Membership of a recognized professional body such as Certified Risk Analyst, Fraud Investigation or an equivalent professional qualification.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience in risk, security and compliance at managerial level.
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, accounting systems and related tools will be an added advantage.
