Store Assistant (2 Years Fixed Term Contract)
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Store Assistant will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the warehouse by receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining accurate records of materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient supply of items to various departments within the mining operation.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
- Receiving, inspecting, and verifying delivered goods against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Labelling, binning, and storing materials in designated areas according to warehouse procedures.
- Issuing materials and tools based on approved requisitions and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Maintaining up-to-date stock records, bin cards, and performing regular data entry in the inventory system.
- Assisting in conducting cycle counts, stocktakes, and reconciliation of stock variances.
- Keeping the store clean, organised, and compliant with SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) standards.
- Reporting damaged, expired, or non-conforming stock to the Stores Supervisor.
- Assisting in the preparation of material kits for planned maintenance or shutdown work.
- Coordinating with the procurement and maintenance teams to ensure timely replenishment of stock.
- Ensuring safe handling, storage, and issuing of hazardous materials and consumables.
- Filing and maintaining documentation such as issue vouchers, delivery notes, and requisitions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
- BGCSE certificate
- Certificate in Stores Management, Supply Chain, or Logistics is an added advantage
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in stores, warehousing, or inventory control
- Experience in a mining or industrial environment is an added advantage
- Familiarity with maintenance or operational material types is preferred
