Protection Officer – Bank of Botswana

(a) Main purpose of the job

The main purpose of the job is to protect life and property, through effective operation of security systems and compliance with procedures.

(b) Key Responsibilities

• Undertakes reception duties and facilitates entry into Bank buildings in accordance with the established policies and procedures;
• Facilitate security vetting and clearance as required by the policies of the Bank and various legal instruments;
• Screens staff members and visitors at entry and exit, physically or using equipment such as X-Ray machines and metal detectors;
• Captures visitors and contractors data into the visitor’s management systems and issues them with access cards;
• Conducts security and safety inductions for visitors and contractors, and ensures compliance to requirements;
• Escort visitors and contractors at all Bank facilities;
• Conducts physical security and safety surveillance and inspection of the Bank’s facilities, on a regular basis;
• Mans the Control Room and operates security and safety systems, to facilitate access authorisation and conduct surveillance; and
• Conducts investigations on all security and safety breaches and report the findings and recommendations to the management team.

 (c) Job Requirements

A Diploma in Security Management, Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Law, Safety Management or equivalent plus two years relevant experience. Light Duty, PSV and/or Heavy-Duty Driver’s License plus three years accident-free driving experience will be an added advantage.
