Job Description
Reporting to the General Manager, the Underground Engineering Manager, oversees the engineering design, construction, maintenance, and project management functions for both the Underground Project and Underground Operations. The role is responsible for ensuring engineering best practices through the review and approval of designs, managing engineering projects (including services and associated infrastructure), contractor management, budgeting, staff development, compliance with statutory requirements, and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Postgraduate qualification in Business or Engineering Management.
- Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years post qualification experience with proven track record of managing mine development and construction projects in an underground environment, five (5) of which should have been at a Senior Engineering Level.
- Relevant technical experience in winder installation and commissioning with particular emphasis on conveyance installation and winder automation.
- Demonstrated ability to review and influence designs for underground mobile equipment, underground mine dewatering as well as diamond ore primary processing infrastructure. Must have technical and operational knowledge of such equipment to guarantee equipment operability.
- Strong engineering project management and ability to manage interfaces between different packages to achieve project deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and manage asset management systems, with particular emphasis on LCC management to optimise project schedules and asset value while ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
