BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

 The HSE Supervisor will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance and performance of the expansion project at MMG-Khoemacau Copper Mining. This position involves close collaboration with contractors, the management team, and local stakeholders to maintain a safe and sustainable working environment. The HSE Supervisor will oversee training, reporting, data analysis, and communication to drive continuous improvement in HSE standards.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing and delivering HSE training and induction programs for contractor employees to ensure compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and updating content as needed.
  • Collaborating with contractor HSE teams to align safety practices and ensure adherence to project HSE policies.
  • Acting as a liaison between contractors and the management team to address HSE concerns and resolve issues promptly.
  • Preparing and submitting internal and external HSE reports, including incident reports, compliance audits, and performance metrics.
  • Analysing HSE data to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement as well as developing and implementing improvement plans to enhance safety performance and reduce incidents.
  • Facilitating effective communication between contractors, the local team, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on HSE objectives.
  • Participating in HSE audits and inspections and following up on corrective actions, assisting in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSE supervision, preferably in mining or construction projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in HSE data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training programs.
  • Certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is an advantage.
  • Chinese and English language ability to work under multi-culture environment
