Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and execute the acquiring product strategy in alignment with the Bank’s digital and payments strategy.
  2. Drive acquisition of new merchants across key segments (SMEs, corporates, government, and informal sector), including POS, e-commerce, QR, and digital payment solutions.
  3. Manage and optimise the performance of the acquiring portfolio, including transaction volumes, revenues, and merchant activity levels.
  4. Ensure effective deployment, utilisation, and lifecycle management of POS devices and digital payment solutions.
  5. Enhance the Bank’s digital payments ecosystem by integrating acquiring solutions with mobile banking, agency banking, and merchant platforms.
  6. Monitor merchant activity and implement initiatives to increase transaction volumes, reduce dormancy, and improve merchant engagement.
  7. Ensure seamless merchant onboarding, device installation, and after-sales support to deliver a superior merchant experience.
  8. Work closely with IT and Digital teams to ensure system uptime, platform stability, and continuous improvement of acquiring solutions.
  9. Ensure compliance with card scheme rules (e.g., Visa, Mastercard), regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  10. Monitor fraud, chargebacks, and disputes, and implement effective mitigation and control measures.
  11. Collaborate with Business Banking and Sales teams to drive merchant acquisition and cross-selling of banking products.
  12. Manage vendor and partner relationships, ensuring service level agreements, cost efficiency, and performance standards are met.
  13. Drive innovation in acquiring, including new payment technologies, digital wallets, QR payments, and e-commerce solutions.
  14. Prepare and present regular reports on acquiring performance, including volumes, revenue, merchant growth, and system performance.
  15. Build and lead a high-performing acquiring team, ensuring clear targets, accountability, and continuous capability development.

PERFORMS SUCH OTHER RELATED ACTIVITIES AS DIRECTED BY THE HEAD, PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND DIGITAL CHANNELS

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Payments, or related field

Experience:

  • At least five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience in payments, acquiring, or merchant services, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
