Job Description

Premium Resources Botswana (PRB) is seeking a Project Geologist on Fixed Term Contract basis. Under the supervision of the Senior Geologist & Exploration Manager, the Project Geologist plans, carries out and supervises exploration activities on the assigned project areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing contractors and ensures that time sheets are verified
  • Responsible for execution of approved drill programs – both completing tasks listed and supervising those to whom the tasks have been delegated.
  • Logging drill core and mentoring those assigned to log drill core
  • Ensuring up to date cross-sections are maintained, and quick logs are reported
  • Ensuring core technicians and samplers follow established SOPs
  • Logistics relating to drill pad and trail preparation, spotting, and stopping holes, and rig moves
  • Communicating logistical or drilling problems to supervisor and working with drillers to solve these issues
  • Discussing drill hole results and drilling strategy on a daily basis with exploration team and supervisor, including sharing of geological knowledge
  • Planning field work and supervising field crews
  • Ensuring proper sample collection and compiling new geological observations.
  • Interpreting geological, geochemical, and geophysical data.
  • Integrating geological, geochemical, and geophysical information to generate interpretations.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.S) in Geology or Geologic engineering
  • 4 years post qualification experience .
  • Previous Core Logging (Geological and Structural) experience would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in Magmatic Cu-Ni Sulphide Deposits is preferable but not necessary
  • Knowledgeable in the principles and methods used in a deep drilling surface and Underground diamond drill program
  • Demonstrated ability and experience using mine modeling software; Datamine (DHLogger). ArcGis would be ideal . Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with various individuals, crews, departments, and organizational levels.
  • Must have a strong commitment to workplace safety.
