Job Description

Main Purpose of the Job

To perform the safety oversight responsibilities as well as Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs) of Air Operator Cabin safety designated by the Civil Aviation Act and its Regulations. Serve as a resource and technical authority in the field of cabin safety requirements as they relate to work activities affecting civil aviation, provide technical support to assigned air carriers and air operators. Oversee compliance of assigned operators with applicable Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana polices, guidance and approved programs and facilitate Botswana to fulfill its obligations under the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

Position Requirements

Education:

Minimum of a valid ICAO cabin crew Licence with an aircraft type
endorsement from a CAA approved Training Organization plus

  • Type rating on at least two aircraft types in the Botswana
    register
  • Associate degree or equivalent and three (3) or more years
    work experience as a cabin crew member

OR

Minimum of a valid ICAO cabin crew Licence with an aircraft type
endorsement from a CAA approved Training Organization plus

  • Type rating on at least two aircraft types in the Botswana
    register
  • Should have passed BGCSE or equivalent plus
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience relevant post qualification
    experience as Cabin Safety Inspector within Aviation Industry
    or Civil Aviation Authority

OR

Minimum of a valid ICAO cabin crew Licence with an aircraft type
endorsement from a CAA approved Training Organization plus

  • Type rating on at least two aircraft types in the Botswana
    register
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant post qualification experience as
    cabin crew member within Aviation Industry
    Experience in a passenger-carrying multi-engine aircraft over 5,700
    kg maximum certificated take-off weight, previous experience as
    Cabin Crew Member examiner and instructor as essential elements
    would be an added advantage

Professional/Technical:

  • Safety Auditor for cabin services of large aircraft, and aircraft

emergency procedures

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant ICAO Annexes related to
  • cabin safety, Manuals and Guidance Material & document
  • Customer Service training
  • Cabin safety policy and CAA regulatory requirements
  • Cabin Crew duties and responsibilities
  • Cabin safety operations
  • Air carrier cabin safety emergency procedures and associated
    training
  • Passenger handling practices; and emergency and safety
    equipment located in the aircraft cabin
  • Experience in cabin safety emergency procedures
    implementation and/or instruction including installation or use
    of emergency equipment in the cabin
