Purpose of the Role
To plan, organise and control sectional activities within an area of responsibility (Section) in order to achieve monthly production targets, maintaining a high standard of Safety, Health and Environment in compliance with legal requirements.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls expenditure within approved parameters
- Contributes to the development of the sectional shift plan taking cognisanse of customer needs.
- Leads and controls day to day sectional plant activities by optimally deploying production resources allocated to his/her section.
- Operates the plant section within the set parameters to ensure effective process specification and monitors progress through periodic communication with General Shift Foreman and other plant sections.
- Directly in charge of working areas and persons in his/her section.
- Identifying process opportunities, equipment/process problems, negative/favourable process trends, required repair/maintenance interventions and reviewing previous section operational plan to contribute to the development of the shift operational plan.
- Implements the section handover process by reviewing the section operational plan progress as well as the current plant status with the on-coming Plant Supervisor and highlighting problems and opportunities.
- Facilitates and drives plant maintenance.
- Assesses the impact and duration of breakdowns, decides and or advice on appropriate interventions (e.g., stop section of plant) and takes action as required.
- Relaying information (instructions, feedback, plans) from the General Shift Foreman.

Education
- O’ Levels or BGCSE or equivalent
Experience
- 3 years as Maintainer Operator or equivalent.
