TECHNICIAN- METERING & ENERGY MANAGEMENT (X1) -GABORONE (RE-ADVERTISEMENT)

 In its pursuit to become a Competitive Commercial Power Utility within the Region, Botswana Power Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified, highly energetic, dynamic, result oriented, innovative, and customer focused individuals, who believe they can be part of a great team that delivers power to Botswana to apply for the below listed position not later than 4th August 2023.

Main purpose of the position

To install, test, calibrate and maintain high voltage and bulk supply point-metering equipment in accordance with equipment design and operational standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Installs, tests, calibrates and commissions metering equipment to ensure conformity to set standards and approved designs.
  • Prepares metering maintenance schedule for approval.
  • Carries out maintenance of metering equipment in accordance with approved maintenance programmes.
  • Diagnoses and repairs metering equipment mal operation.
  • Attends and provides technical advice on metering fraud investigations.
  • Maintains records of all metering fraud incidents, monitors and reports on trends for input on mitigating controls.
  • Downloads and reads meters for Large Power Users and at bulk supply points for billing and planning purposes.
  • Implements approved metering settings to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Witnesses and approves tests results of commissioning by contractors and recommends for takeover to ensure conformity to set standards.
  • Updates and maintains the database of test results, equipment and metering information to facilitate referencing and problem solving.
  • Operates in accordance with policies and rules, while performing routine safety checks on own equipment and workspace.

Qualifications

  • Recognised Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • ERB Registration is required.

Experience

  • Five (5) years post qualification experience in the power environment, three (3) of which would have been in power metering or similar environment.
