Mechanical Maintenance Artisan (x2 Positions) – Botswana Power Corporation

Main purpose of the position

To execute maintenance works on power station mechanical equipment, efficiently and effectively to ensure optimum plant availability in accordance with set standards, specifications, and safety requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of tests on mechanical equipment in accordance with standard procedures to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Collects and analyses data to make informed decisions following standard procedures.
• Provides preliminary data for Root Cause Analysis
• Works within current compliance processes, systems and procedures and reports shortcomings to improve equipment availability and reliability
• Initiate improvements and implements approved change management tasks by following established procedures.
• Performs standard installation, maintenance, and repair activities in accordance with standard procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation of the plant.
• Operates various Workshop mechanical equipment, adjusting work sequence as directed to improve efficiency.
• Performs quality assurance tasks on mechanical equipment in line with standard procedures.
• Works in accordance with policies and procedures, while performing routine safety checks on equipment and workspace.
• Contributes to the development of risk assessments

Qualifications

• A recognized National Craft Certificate (NCC) in Mechanical Maintenance Fitting or equivalent.
• Must acquire a Competent Person certificate within 6 months of appointment.
• A valid Class B Driver’s license a required.

Experience

• Should have done Artisan Development Program (ADP) or 2 years’ experience in a heavy Industry
