In its pursuit to become a Competitive Commercial Power Utility within the Region, Botswana Power Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified, highly energetic, dynamic, result oriented, innovative, and customer focused individuals, who believe they can be part of a great team that delivers power to Botswana to apply for the below listed position not later than 23 April 2023.
Main purpose of the position
To install, maintain, test and repair power system protection equipment efficiently and effectively in accordance with BPC standards, policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of standard tests that require moderate judgment.
- Selects appropriate data from information provided by others and inputs that data into spreadsheets or standard formats.
- Maintains up to date records for protection section.
- Works within current compliance processes, systems and procedures and reports shortcomings.
- Performs simple facilities tasks by following established procedures to support others.
- Ensures sectional vehicles are clean.
- Implements improvements and carries out simple change management tasks by following established procedures to support others.
- Performs standard installation, maintenance and repair activities under detailed guidance, while also troubleshooting basic technical and/or operational problems by applying previously defined matching solutions.
- Performs maintenance of protective and associated devices according to set schedules, procedures and standards
- Carries out installation of protective devices as per guidelines by the Technicians
- Troubleshoots, tests and repair of protection schemes/installations as delegated by the Supervisor.
- Ensures calibration of testing equipment.
- Operates various machines, adjusting work sequence and/or other variables to improve efficiency.
- Performs network Switching operations.
- Performs relatively simple testing and quality assurance tasks.
- Operates in accordance with policies and rules, while performing routine safety checks on own equipment and workspace.
- Maintains good condition and safe keeping of all tools and equipment.
- Ensures compliance to SHER procedures when carrying out duties.
- Promotes safety awareness in line with SHER requirements through periodic audits.
Qualifications
- BGCSE and National Craft Certificate (Electrical) or equivalent.
- Driver’s license
- Must obtain Senior Authorization within six (6) months for internal candidates and twelve (12) months for external
