Job Summary:
The Water Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, and management of water infrastructure projects, including water supply, wastewater treatment, and stormwater management systems. Using your technical expertise and innovative problem-solving skills, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliable and sustainable delivery of water resources to communities and industries. As a member of our water engineering team, you will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and implement comprehensive solutions that address the evolving water-related challenges facing our clients and the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and data analyses to evaluate the water-related needs and constraints of a project
– Design and oversee the construction of water treatment facilities, distribution networks, pumping stations, and other water infrastructure
– Develop comprehensive plans and specifications for water supply, wastewater management, and stormwater systems
– Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling to optimize the performance and efficiency of water systems
– Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and environmental standards throughout the project lifecycle
– Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for water infrastructure projects
– Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and regulatory agencies to address technical and operational issues
– Conduct regular inspections, testing, and monitoring of water systems to assess their condition and performance
– Develop innovative solutions to address emerging water challenges, such as water scarcity, water quality, and climate change adaptation
– Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, materials, and industry best practices in water engineering
– Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior water engineering professionals
– Contribute to the continuous improvement of the organization’s water engineering processes and practices
Required Skills and Experience:
– Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, environmental, or water resources engineering
– Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license or certification
– 5-10 years of relevant experience in water infrastructure design, planning, and management
– Proficient in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software, such as EPANET, HEC-RAS, and SWMM
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data
– Excellent project management and coordination abilities to oversee the successful delivery of water projects
– Thorough understanding of water-related regulations, standards, and best practices
– Effective communication and stakeholder management skills to work collaboratively with diverse teams
– Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its applications in water engineering
– Commitment to sustainable design principles and environmental stewardship
