From its op Redpath is the world’s premier full-service underground mining contractor. Redpath Botswana are excited to be looking for one (1) Ventilation Officer for the Jwaneng Underground Mining Development Project.

Basic function of the position:
The role as a Ventilation Officer is responsible for establishing ventilation systems, and providing technical and operational support across the project, as well as maintaining systems, monitoring air quality, conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance and developing emergency plans and preparedness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ventilation surveys, inspections, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Fan and duct installation planning.
  • 3 monthly Rolling Schedule planning and input.
  • Ventsim modelling and ventilation design support.
  • Statutory ventilation compliance requirements.
  • Gas monitoring and emergency response support as the site SME.
  • Coordination of ventilation-related procurement.
  • Establishing ventilation management systems and processes.
  • Managing and mentoring the ventilation team (3 technicians)
  • Training and development of local ventilation personnel

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a ventilation role.
  • Must hold a recognised Ventilation Officer qualification suitable for appointment under the relevant statutory requirements in Botswana.
  • Underground hardrock mining experience.
  • Software Experience including: Ventsim, Excel, outlook and PowerPoint as minimum requirements, Strongly Desired: Deswik and Power BI experience.
  • Must have worked in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment.
  • Driver’s License, First Aid & CPR certificate
