Underground Mining Electrical Superintendent – Redpath Botswana

Job Description

Redpath is the world’s premier full-service underground mining contractor. Redpath Botswana are excited to be looking for a (1) Electrical Superintendent for the new Jwaneng Underground Mining Development Project.

The position:
The role as an Electrical Superintendent is responsible for leading and coordinating the electrical maintenance team to meet all statutory and project electrical requirements. You will also be required to assistant the Project Manager in electrical planning, resource allocation and scheduling. Responsibilities can include project planning and managing, ensuring health and safety systems are complied with, tracking projects deliverables, and providing leadership and direction to the electrical team.

Main duties and responsibilities:
• Maintain electrical system records, drawings, designs etc. in accordance with industry standards and requirements.
• Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments as required to ensure all works are conducted in a safe manner to eliminate the risk of injury to personnel and damage to equipment.
• Cooperate, and assist other crew members to maximise productivity of the whole shift.
• Ensure materials are ordered correctly in required quantities and deliver to proper locations.
• Keep the Project Manager and Superintendent aware of the state of equipment in the mine with respect to potential problem areas.
• Assist preparation of the maintenance budget and regularly monitor/control maintenance expenditure.
• Attend monthly meetings and report on any major electrical issues. Prompt reaction and reporting of any electrical equipment failures and delays to Project Manager.

Minimum qualifications and experience required for this position

• Minimum qualifications and experience required for this position:
• Electrical Trade Certificate, with High Voltage Switching qualifications
• Driver s License, First Aid & CPR
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical installation and maintenance in an Underground Mining environment
• Experience maintaining Sandvik range of mobile equipment
• In-depth, extensive knowledge and application of safe and reliable electrical installation and maintenance practices to maximise equipment and system reliability
• Lead continuous improvement and encourage an environment of innovation
