Description

To plan, direct, or coordinate the transportation operations within the Corporation.

1.1. Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities (Key Performance Areas)

  • Cost Control
  • Identifies and implements cost containment measures and projects for the Section
  • Service Excellence
  • Maintains effective working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and service providers by ensuring adherence to service legal agreements and contractual requirements.
  • Transport Scheduling and Allocation
  • Receives transport requests from the entire Corporation and priorities based on perceived business production priorities. Allocates vehicles and Drivers accordingly, to meet the requests and the needs of the Corporation.
  • Driver Testing
  • Examines all employee drivers/operators for competency yearly to ensure and determine consistent standards of operation, and issues certificates to authorize successful candidates to drive/operate company vehicles
  • Arranges for testing of vehicles (passenger and freight) at Central Transport Organisation for road-worthiness, for re-licensing and issues of required permits, completing appropriate forms and following laid down procedures
  • Maintains records of all company employee drivers, and vehicle testing results, and updates as necessary.
  • Administration
  • Monitors usage and fuel consumption for each vehicle and maintains records thereof
  • Monitors files of all vehicles, their users and verifies that accurate records of service carried out are kept.
  • Monitors vehicle mileage for purposes of routine service as per manufacturer’s instructions and arranges for vehicles to be serviced by the dealers.
  • Keeps track of vehicle licenses expiry, renews licenses and sticks licenses onto vehicles.
  • People effectiveness
  • Overseas work in progress, checking quality, compliance with laid down operational procedures and timelines
  • Monitors staff behaviour and enforces implementation of Air Botswana’s disciplinary code, including taking appropriate action in line with laid down policies and procedures.
Requirements

Minimum Education required :

  • A recognised Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Transport Management or equivalent

Minimum Experience required :-

  • At least four (4) years’ post qualification experience in transportation management of which two (2) should been at Supervisory level in a similar role.
