Mandate: Ministry of Health exists to promote and provide integrated, holistic and sustainable preventative, curative, rehabilitative quality health service to the nation.

VACANCY: TRANSPORT SUPERINTENDENT

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the above position in the Ministry of Health, tenable at Department of Corporate Services – Headquarters.

SALARY: D3 (P279, 660 – P308, 328 per annum)

BENEFITS:

a Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50%, Employee pays 50%).

b) Contributory Pension (Government contributes 15% and employee contributes 5% of basic salary.)

LEAVE: 30 working days per annum.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Diploma in Business Administration/Economics/Automotive Engineering/ Statistics/Transport Economics and Management or any related field.

EXPERIENCE: At least eight (8) years work experience in Fleet Management or a related field, of which two (2) years must have been served as Chief Transport Officer at D4 salary scale or equivalent.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To coordinate transport activities and operations for the Ministry of Health.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate optimal fleet utilization in the Ministry.
  2. Coordinate the maintenance of Ministry fleet.
  3. Coordinate procurement of new vehicles.
  4. Investigate misuse of government vehicles and take appropriate action.
  5. Coordinate boarding of vehicles and replacement of boarded vehicles.
  6. Coordinate auditing of vehicle log books from various departments in the Ministry of Health.
  7. Attend to customer queries and enquiries.
  8. Interpret policies, guidelines and regulations to clients.
  9. Coordinate training of drivers and transport officers.
  10. Manage staff performance.
  11. Undertake any other related duties as may be assigned by Management for the exigency of the civil service.
