Job Description
Responsible for managing the tax division, providing high-level tax advisory and compliance services, and supervising team members on local and international tax assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Management of the division as well as the provision of high-level tax advisory and compliance services to clients of the firm
- Supervising and coaching of team members
- Technical delivery on local and international tax assignments
- Preparing responses to and liaison with the tax authorities
- Meeting financial targets regarding fees under management, productivity, lock up and billings
- Keeping up to date with changes to tax principles and legislation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
- At least 10 years’ taxation advisory services experience, 7 of which should be with a ‘big four’ firm
- In-depth knowledge of Botswana tax legislation and practice (income tax, VAT, capital transfer tax, withholding taxes, double taxation agreements)
- Working knowledge of Botswana customs and excise duties and regional taxes
- Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Taxation (added advantage)
- Membership in a recognized professional institute (added advantage)
- Good legislative interpretation and application skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent report writing skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Ability to provide effective coaching to more junior staff
- Technical knowledge with a proven track record in the field of tax advisory work
